X-men movie premiere!
I was so excited to see this movie! I,
like everyone else had been waiting for this much hyped
movie to premiere. I was going to wait like everyone else to
go see the opening of this movie on Friday July
14th!
But as luck would have it, a friend of
mine called me at work on Thursday. "Hey 99.5 KISS is giving
away movie premiere tickets at the Jiffy Lube near work! I'm
going to go get one!" Suddenly the euphoria took over and I
began to beg and plead for her to get me one as well.
"But they'll only probably give me
one!" "Take another friend!," I screamed. Well, being she is
a good gauge of homicidal tendencies, she took her friend
and got me a ticket as well. I live a charmed
life.
I waited in anticipation as I got my
ticket. I told my wife, Liz that if she could name five
X-men, then she could go. A night on the town away from our
kids drove her to bug every young man at her office. She
called me back with the answers. She was in.
Tuesday rolled around and after some
sly negotiations, we got her brother and sister-in-law to
watch the kiddos on our premiere night out. We both raced
out of work and got home, fed the kiddos, packed them up and
dropped them off at the baby-sitters. Thankfully I had told
Liz that the movie premiere was at 7pm so that she could be
ready even sooner. My plan was to be at the theater by
6:45pm so as to get good seats. After a few harrowing
moments with 6:30pm traffic on 410 - we pulled in to the
theater parking lot at 6:35pm. We were there! And on
time.
I was so so excited to go see the
movie. We walked up to the doors, ticket (above) in hand and
we got the....

Yep. Believe it or not the movie
premiere didn't even start until 7:30pm and at 6:40 - they
had already filled up the theater!
The manager was posting signs that the
theater showing the movie was filled to capacity! He told us
that people had been lining up to get in around 2:30pm that
afternoon! In 102 degree weather - no doubt!
Well, we weren't going to waste our
time alone so we drove down to the next theater and popped
in to see the movie, "Shaft." It was actually pretty good.
Now I'll just have to stand in line with the rest of the
hordes and see the X-men this weekend.
In the immortal words of my
buddy..."Chorizo!"
