Monday January 7, 2008

Some of you have heard me mention something about Joaquin doing a Science Fair project for school? Well, we've been quite busy this holiday season building his Water Bottle Rocket. We've made a launcher out of PVC pipe and he put together a Rocket out of a 2 liter soda bottle with fins and a nose cone.

He is set to present the project at school on Jan 24, 2008 so we decided to do a test launch of the water bottle rocket this past weekend. We drove out to the park and launched the rocket...we were not disappointed. You can view the short video above by rolling your mouse over the empty black box to show a player - then just click play.

We (he) will be doing his official launches next weekend to record his results from:

Bottle + Water + Air Pressure = Altitude

Joaquin (Flight Director) still needs to complete some minor pre-launch homework but when we launch again, I will video tape the event.

"Really Gilberto? You will?" - asks the crowd sarcastically. :-)

Yes...Dad has a ton of pictures since Joaquin began building this project and I hope to post them someday as well. This is way cool.

Thanks G-man (Propulsion and Booster Systems Engineer)
