Flyaway Band performance

by on Oct.10, 2016, under Creativity, Photography, Sony A6000

Had and opportunity to photograph another friend’s band at “sort of” local venue. Took both my Nikon and Sony and was pleasantly surprised with the results.

Monster-Con 2016

by on Sep.25, 2016, under Creativity, Film making, Sony A6000, Video

Went to Monster-Con 2016 with my daughter this year. Had a blast. I wanted to go see the Zombie Pinup content but sadly it was canceled. We did stick around to see all of the people in their costumes (lots of clowns) and since Emmy wanted to take pictures, I lent her my Nikon D7000 and I took my Sony A6000 but shot video instead on my stabilizer. First time doing that but look at the video below:

I’ll post more pics from Emmy once she goes through them, but again, we had a blast.

Brews and Blooms festival 9-10-16

by on Sep.11, 2016, under Creativity, Photography, Sony A6000

So yesterday, Elizabeth, Berna and I attended the Brews and Blooms festival at the Botanical Gardens. Event started at 6:30pm and ended at 9:30pm.

It was a good event (in theory) and since I’d never been to the Botanical Gardens, Elizabeth didn’t have to twist my arm as long as I could bring my camera.

“WHAT! You’re a photographer and never been there!?”

I know, I know, but it was fun albeit a little poorly organized in my opinion. They gave you these little 4oz glasses and you’d stand in line for a 2oz portion which you would finish in a minute or two then go stand back in line. The good news is that they let you bring lawn chairs and you could “stake” you location and wander off to find food, beer and listen to music. The Botanical Gardens are great for daytime or dusk viewing but it sucks at night. I played around with my Sony and got some good pics plus we did have a good time.

I posted a gallery below. Click on the images for a larger view.

Thumbs – a little closer

by on Sep.04, 2016, under Creativity, Photography, Sony A6000

My son came by today and returned my D&D figurine “Thumbs” – he told me it didn’t bring him any luck but as I was examining my figurine, I decided to bust out my Sony A6000. I put some macro tubes on it and shot some of the below pics.

“How the hell did I ever paint something so small!?”

I put in some coins for perspective. Click on them for a larger view.

I didn’t use my DIY lightbox but you can see more images by clicking on this link.

Follow Focus Gear Hack – DIY

by on Jul.09, 2016, under Creativity, DIY, Movies, Sony A6000

So I’ve been figuring out how to make a smaller video rig for my Sony A6000. I had a much larger one but thought a smaller one with most of the same attachments would work better. Here is the bigger one.

I attached a follow focus but the rubber bracelet was too big – how would I make it smaller.

A simple DIY hack. See video blow.
