The Walking Dead – my take

by on Oct.18, 2014, under Creativity, Movie/TV Posters, Photography, TV

TWD_M_G_A_FB_CoverI’m a big fan of the AMC’s The Walking Dead. So much that I created some posters much like my other posters.

My sister in law, Maggie and my niece Angelica have indulged me once again. We are all fans of The Walking Dead and I wanted to do another poster commemorating the Season 5 premiere on Sunday Oct 12th.

Maggie was nice enough to let us go to her place in Boerne and shoot some photos. Thankfully, Elizabeth and Emma came along since I needed a photographer since I was to be in the photos.

Below are the fruits of my labor and a bonus. Action G-man! Click on the photos for larger view and use either on arrows on the bottom of pics to navigate or just use your arrow keys on keyboard.

I tried to stay as portable as I could so we just brought some reflectors and speed lights. Here are some of the behind the scenes photos my Emma took as well. Click on them for a larger  view.

Now…onto the season 5!

Walking Dead Season Four – FINALLY!

by on Oct.10, 2013, under Creativity, Family, Movie/TV Posters, Photography

WalkingDeadFansCan you believe we’ve been almost waiting a year for the new season of The Walking Dead?

I can’t believe it’s been that long! The Walking Dead will premiere this Sunday 10-13-13 and since I know I’m not the “only” fan in my extended family, I invited my niece and my Sister-in-Law to participate in my poster creations.

This time I did it for the TV show – not like the movie ones I’ve done in the past.

I’m always trying to change up the poster so it’s not a complete copy so I added some of my own flair.

Maggie, my sister-in-law did her best Daryl impression with her husband’s bow. My niece Angel (who’s been one of my photo models and actor in my other creative venues) wanted to be holding the samurai swords I borrowed from my buddy Mike. And I already had the fort in the backyard!

I of course am the comical relief, did you spot the remote?

I’m happy with the way it turned out. If you click on the images – you will see a larger image.

Now what will I do next? Hmmmmm….

PS – as always – below was my guide.

Saldivar World’s End Movie poster

by on Sep.25, 2013, under Creativity, Movie Reviews, Movie/TV Posters, Movies

Saldivar-WorldsEnd-Poster_FinalSo yeah…I created another movie poster. You can click on it for a larger view.

A while back Liz and I had gone to go see “Worlds End” with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. I’ve been a fan of those two since Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz but not a big fan of “Paul” movie.

To my amazement, some of me has actually rubbed off on Liz because she wanted to see it as well. So we did our date night and saw it at the Alamo Drafthouse (how appropriate) and really enjoyed it. I also got inspired to produce a Saldivar movie poster like I have done for others.

I actually had the poster guts done for a while now but getting my gorgeous wife to come in with “make up on” and a great outfit to snap a photo was tough! Took me about a month just to get this photo. I had already created the movie poster all from scratch. I was just waiting to get “our photo.” I had really missed the Back to School option but Summer had literally just ended – this past weekend.

We got home from Emmy’s Volleyball game and I talked her in to posing.

It worked and I immediately started working on adding the missing element.

I like how it turned out. One more item off my personal to do list. Now onto the next project…

PS – below is my guide.

Okay, a bit corny but you get the picture. We finally went to see Man of Steel on the 4th of July. Everyone enjoyed it but I thought it was just a tad too long. Could’ve ended at the 2hour mark.

And of course I saw some photoshop tutorials on how to create the movie poster and well…I created “our version.” Just like the others.

I better stop now…there are a lot of movies I want to see this summer.

Anyways, thanks to my family for indulging my “creative outlet.” You can click on the image for a larger view.

PS – I know I should’ve done this sooner…but man, we’ve been “super” busy.

We just got back from viewing the new Star Trek Into Darkness movie and it was good.

The morning started out rough with thunderstorms but the crew completed our mission to see the movie.

And as you can see, I’ve come up with another “Saldivar” movie poster, this one for Star Trek Into Darkness. I created one when the first movie came out in 2009 and you can view it here.

I’ve had this idea for a while now. As a matter of fact, we had the photo shoot last week. My buddy Jim and Mike came over to help and we just set up our off camera flashes and took pictures of me, Elizabeth, Emma and our villain, Joaquin.

Okay he’s not a villain but he sure does stay in his room a lot.

When I created the AVENGERS poster, I wanted to “pose” everyone but didn’t have time to do a photoshoot so I just found other pictures. Not this time – I was looking to mimic one of the character posters from the new movie (see below) and I like the way it turned out. Original concept was to pose with guns and stuff but I think this is more “my style.”

As for the movie, Liz and the kids loved it and so did I but I’m a purist so some stuff struck me as odd. I won’t spoil it for anyone. Go see the movie, it was entertaining and you won’t be disappointed.

Now onto the next movie…and poster.

PS – below is the poster I used as my guide.
