Very cool RETRO iPhone case

by on Sep.10, 2010, under Apple, Around the Web, Technology

This actually pretty cool.

Someone took an old unused Newton, hollowed it out and fitted it for an iPhone.

I’m not sure how great that would be — that old case is probably a little smaller in size than a VHS tape…you remember those?

The reason I know the size of the Newton is because I actually have one, thanks to my buddy Jim who gave it to me as a birthday present oh…so many years back. And it still works.

I think the case would be just too big to carry around and Newton stylus wouldn’t work as input device for the iPhone either.

Regardless, it would be cool to see the reaction on people’s faces when they see you whip this puppy out BUT even more fun to see the reaction of people that actually know what a Newton is/was!

Most people forget the Newton was one of the first PDAs (Personal Digital Assistant) that crashed horribly and soon the Palm came onboard.

I remember taking mine to work and having to reply to the many questions about my device,

“What is that?”

“A Newton.”

“A what?”

“A PDA.”

“A what?”

“An electronic Franklin Planner…”

“Ohh! I get it now!”

sigh…

Back to school tomorrow – it got here fast.

by on Aug.15, 2010, under Around the Web, Family, Humor, Sports

Tomorrow the summer ride is over for my kids. They start back to school. My son starts high school, my daughter into 5th grade. They begin a week early since they go to Catholic School.

It just seemed like a short summer but who am I kidding?

We did a lot but now the fun begins for the Saldivar Clan. Academics are the important thing for our kids but they love sports as well. Joaquin is giving Freshman football at Antonian High school a try and Emmy is going out for the Volleyball team at Blessed Sacrament.

The good news is that “hopefully” both will be playing for the school teams. Actually, Joaquin is on the team but Emmy still has two more tryouts tomorrow and Tuesday.

This could mean our weekends will be free since CYO was mostly played on the weekends. Practices should also be held at the respective schools so that will help as well. I hope.

I’m strapping in — it’s gonna be a fast ride.

Oh and if you’re wondering about the cool school bus photos – it’s real. Found it on this webpage.

Better than shooting yourself in the head right?

Another interesting game found while I was surfing.

Party Roulette Water Balloon Game by ALLY on JANUARY 5, 2010 For once the prankster version of a device is more innocent than the actual version. Now you can own a party roulette version of Russian Roulette. Instead of holding a real gun to your head, you’ll be holding a plastic one with a massive water balloon attached to it. Then as it goes round and round again, the odds of you getting soaked become more and more likely. You can purchase the Party Roulette Water Balloon Game for $17.98 from the Prank Place. Only $65 bucks for your “eye in the sky.” Hmmm…I could use this. Plus is look just too cool. Check out the video. I also posted the link below from the website I saw this on – I frequent the page daily.

Of course, they haven’t shown it crash to see how durable this thing is like but c’mon, it’s an AirHog. My son had one and we crashed it numerous times.

Now, I can practice on this little baby until I work my way up to this one…yeah right. But cool video shots.

You just can’t beat simplicity

by on Jul.28, 2010, under Apple, Around the Web, Technology

I don’t know if you’ve heard, but for now you can print from an iPad. Well, leave it to a simplistic solution. Made me laugh. From a blog I visit frequently. See the link below.
