The Bandit to the rescue of bad dreams

by on Jan.16, 2011, under Around the Web, Family, Humor, Musings

So this morning my wife wakes me to tell me she had a bad dream about her Mom and Dad.

Her Mom and Dad (God rest their souls) had taken them all on one of their trips to Mexico and they somehow could not get back. And the worst part was every-time my wife tried to talk to them, she could not speak. She also said I was waiting for them on the American side of the border.

“Wow,” I said. In my attempt to comfort her I began,” You know what I was dreaming?”

“Our son Joaquin and his friend Chase paid me $3,000 to see if I could drive all the way up to NY and pick up 300 XBox360 video games then get them back down to them in two days!”

Hoping it would make her forget her dream, I then began to sing the song in my head,

East bound and down, loaded up and truckin’,

we’re gonna do what they say can’t be done.

We’ve got a long way to go and a short time to get there.

I’m east bound, just watch ol’ “Bandit” run.

When I finished recounting my dream, I looked over and she was staring at me like I had three heads, then she just shook her head, exhaled loudly and got out of bed.

“But It really was the my dream!,” I stated, “I mean c’mon, how the heck did our 15yr old son and friend get three Grand to give me?”

Oh well, I tried.

I had to post this interesting story on my blog and HAD to find the video on YouTube -see below.

Great movie, great car…

Thanks for letting me share.

File under “DOH! Why didn’t I think of that?!”

The mouse for you mobile phone is what these guys are calling their prototype. You place your camera on a base, show it a marker and it will follow you. Watch the cool video below. Now excuse me while I continue to slam the palm of my hand on my forehead.

Below is a link to the original webpage I found the product.

These are games. Really?

by on Nov.30, 2010, under Around the Web, Video

My son showed me this trailer for a video game and I was not just amazed at the game but how the production value of the trailer.

Very cinematic.

Okay so maybe some regressed Dungeon and Dragons memories are coming up but man, that game trailer was just freaking me out on the depth of field it presented.

You know what depth of field is right?

It’s when images are what I call, “multi-focus” or when the foreground image is sharp but the background is out of focus. See image below:

I’m always trying to achieve that type of shot in photography and Digital Video but it’s harder in DV than in photography. That technique just pulls your eye to the focused object.

It looks just so cool in the game trailer. Plus, I almost believe those guys are real, they way they shrug their shoulders and stuff.

Pretty cool.

Star Trek and Zombies…okay, I’ll bite

by on Sep.17, 2010, under Around the Web, Creativity, Film making, Star Trek

Okay, this is a movie trailer about a Star Trek convention invaded contaminate by a virus that causes people to turn into Zombies.

Star Trek, a convention, the Un-Dead, what is there not to like? And the movie trailer logo is pretty cool too.

I love it.

This so much piqued my interest that I just had to click on the trailer and watch it. It was surprising entertaining and funny. If you’re a die-hard Trek fan you’ll appreciate most of the jokes but what amazed me is that this is a movie trailer FOR A BOOK. You can click on the image for a larger view.

I was a bit disappointed in the fact I won’t see the book turned into a movie — yet.

These folks spent a lot of time and effort putting together the trailer as you can see from the end credits and although it was a bit campy in some scenes, I found myself chuckling quite a bit.

Of course, it’s not the most favorite zombie spoof that I’ve come to love, that is Shaun of the Dead. But never-the-less, I enjoyed the trailer, which I’ve posted below just after the screen shot.

I found this on a website I frequent. Below is the original link as well.

Night of the Living Trekkies book trailer is surprisingly hilarious
