My buddy’s 68 Mustang

Lonnie_68_Mustang-003_TN

This morning Elizabeth and I attending a classic car show. My buddy, Lonnie was presenting his restored 1968 Mustang. Great car so I wanted to take some photos. There were a lot of classic cars there and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky (which presented it’s own problems) but I got some great photos with my Sony A6500.

I’ve posted a gallery below – click on each picture for a larger view.

DIY GoPro Battery Powered Tripod April 2017

Just a quick post to show the “rig” I put together for my daughter that wanted to use my GoPro for some Selfie stuff and time-lapse. She needed to be able to see herself using her iPhone and the GoPro app plus some extra juice to power the GoPro past 2 hours.

So using existing GoPro gear I had PLUS a small power bank, I created something in about 30mins – see below. Should be easy for her to place on any table and just run it.

Sony A6500 noisy camera clip hack

Ever since I’ve been filming with my Sony AK series, I always get this annoying rattling from the metal camera clips that are attached to the camera. These help you keep straps on the camera but when you take the camera strap off – they rattle and the onboard microphone picks up the sound.

I didn’t want to remove them since I only remove the strap when film by hand or on my motorized 3 axis gimbal. I had asked some photo groups I’m part of but they just said to “cut them off.”

“Nope.”

I found this video online and it was BRILLIANT – link below.

So basically  all you need are the “cups” of in ear headphones – who doesn’t have a spare set for smaller or larger ears? For the Sony, you just remove the plastic black part from the triangular clip and slide those bad boys on. The clips are at “attention” but don’t rattle. And you can still use my new clip system. See the pics below. Click on them for a larger view.

Love it.

A teaching photoshoot – but I got to shoot too

Destiny Studio Session-507-200

On Saturday I offered to show my Brother in Law what I know about shooting in a studio environment with strobes and tethered to a computer. He got a model and we set up my home studio. He shot with this Canon but at the end I got to shoot with my Nikon as well. Here some of the shots I’m most happy with from the shoot. Yeah, and that’s me at the end, trying to show the model how to pose. All for the craft. :-)

PS – the sword flare was capture in camera with the studio strobe – not added in photoshop. Quite proud of that.

Schumacher Crossing Falls Day trip 3-14-17

by on Mar.16, 2017, under Creativity, Photography, Sony A6000

SonyA6500-tripod-fallsTMHad the wonderful opportunity to take a day photo trip with my buddy Conny (Imogen) this past Tuesday during my Spring Break vacation. Conny was wonderful enough to drive us up to Hunt TX in her Jeep.

Way cool.

I took my Sony A6500, tripod and optimistic attitude that we’d find some “stepped waterfalls” for me to shoot. I want to get that silky smooth flowing water by setting my camera on a tripod then slowing down the shutter speed. It made the water flow look like smoke! Loved it. One thing off my bucket list.
